Motel is also known by the name motor home or motel. The hotel provides services to motorcyclists. Every guest is able to enter directly via the parking lot as well as into the parking space. They became especially popular in towns along the West Coast, and in the middle Pacific Northwest, where transient people who were out of town often stayed in these motels.

In the depression era "bracket motel", or the "bracket hotel" were very sought-after. A boom in West Coast businesses led to the rise of these motels. The typical size was three rooms, each with a bathroom. These motels were situated near freeways or other roads as well as the locations gave them the ability to connect to big corporate corporations in the region. When it came to the bypassed highway the route brought large corporations along with a range of services and products to hotel guests traveling on the road.

The existence of the bypassed highway along this road resulted in a massive influx of new workers to the hotels. Selling snacks, coffee, cigarettes and chewing gum to the traveling crowd turned into a massive business. It was later referred to as "The Golden Mile" and is an absolute favorite of family vacationers.

The latter half of 1930 Motels were later renamed "motel campers". A growing tourist business and the increasing pressure from the automobile industry prompted the change. The motels no longer could remain on the old name of "motel campers". They began to advertise themselves as tourist camps. Many of them featured local maps of the locations of all the attractions in the area.


The motel and inn business experienced huge decline in the 1950s. A lot of them were shut down of operation. The majority of these hotels changed their names to "motel building" or "inn hotel" to try to revive the old charm. Certain motels became sites for film shoots or became tourist destinations.

There were different options available for hotel accommodations, including single rooms or double-room accommodations. A majority of motels as well as inns offered kitchens with stainless steel kitchen appliances. They also offered recreational facilities such as tennis, swimming pools, courts for basketball and tennis. These all changed the way motel rooms were perceived.
