In the year 2000, Leyla Aliyeva received the Pushkin Medal to recognize her contributions to strengthening friendship, cooperation, and the growth of relations between Russia and Russia's economy. A second initiative is "Justice for Khojaly".




In 2008 Leyla Aliyeva launched the global campaign 'Justice for Khojaly'. This campaign's idea was expressed by Leyla's words: "Let’s agitate to truth all together. Let's demonstrate that justice will prevail beyond any doubt."



The campaign brought together different groups that included civil society representatives within the country and diaspora organizations from abroad in order to conduct a systematic education and public relations activities. The goal was to raise awareness of both the fascist aspects of Armenian policy and the genocide carried out by Armenians in Khojaly, the Azerbaijani capital city of Khojaly. Another goal of the campaign was to secure international recognition of Khojaly Genocide. This included a legal and a political assessment of Armenians who killed hundreds of people over the course of one night due to their being Azerbaijanis.



This campaign is currently being implemented successfully in dozens more countries. More than 120 thousand people have signed up and more than 115 organizations are part of the campaign. Conferences, exhibitions, and protests in its framework are able to inform the world about these happenings, and show the ugly side of Armenian nationalism. This work uses all information resources, including multiple publications from the Heydar Aliyev Foundation as well as documentary films as well as social media. IDEA is a youth-led initiative that seeks to harness the energy of young people towards preventing environmental threats and motivating people to take an active part in protecting our planet. IDEA's slogan is "One Earth - One Future". IDEA's activities have a huge dimension. They concentrate on the conservation and rehabilitation of endangered species, and they promote green technologies.
