Tanaman Kunyit
Kunyit merupakan rempah-rempah. Selain menjadi rempah-rempah, biasanya kunyit juga sebagai pewarna alami. Jadi kunyit ini merupakan salah satu tanaman rempah-rempah dan obat asli dari wilayah Asia Tenggara. Tanaman ini kemudian menyebar ke daerah Australia bahkan Afrika. Hampir setiap orang Indonesia dan India serta bangsa Asia umumnya pernah mengonsumsi kunyit. Kunyit tergolong dalam kelompok jahe-jahean, Zingiberaceae.
Kunyit dikenal di berbagai daerah dengan beberapa nama, seperti turmeric (Inggris), kurkuma (Belanda), kunyit (Indonesia), kunir (Jawa), koneng (Sunda), konyet (Madura), dan janar (Banjar).

Kunyit sangat bermanfaat untuk kesehatan karena kunyit mengandung senyawa yang disebut kurkuminoid. Selain bagus untuk kesehatan (seperti diabetes mellitus, tifus, disentri, amandel, sakit perut, mabuk kendaraan, penambah darah, membersihkan darah, bisul, gatal-gatal), untuk perempuan bisa digunakan sebagai kecantikan (ex: untuk kulit bisa semakin halus, buat jerawat, dll), biasanya sebagai lulur, atau jamu untuk menghilangkan bau badan.
