Massage Therapy - Biomechanical Stimulation
Massage is usually considered to be a massage therapist gently working out knots in the body. But we need to remember that a massage is an entire body experience that encompasses the entire body, including all joints muscles, tendons, bones, ligaments, and so on. Massage can create mechanical tension that is intended to increase the flexibility of muscles, resulting in a wider range of movement, decreased static flexibility, and greater active flexibility (biomechanical theories). Massage can reduce soreness and increase blood flow to affected areas.

There are many ways to define massage, however the term is usually employed in conjunction with bodywork or physical therapy. The biochemical and cellular exchange are altered by the mechanical tension created by massage strokes. There are three main types of massages - deep tissue, an auto-vibration or a vibration technique as well as a compression technique. Deep tissue massage is focused on the superficial layer of the tissues near the surface of the skin. As auto-vibration and vibration techniques draw deep tissue the massage is focused on the surface layers.

Studies have shown that therapeutic massage therapy can be effective in the management of chronic pain, but it doesn't cure the underlying pathology. Since the beginning of time, therapeutic massage has been used to treat many ailments, including joint pain as well as cancer and depression. In reality, Chinese have been treating the pain for centuries. China is the place where the concept of pain was first developed. Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture both employ massage therapy as part of a whole-body treatment plan. Recent research suggests that acupuncture may be effective in certain kinds of chronic pain.

Massage techniques alter the electrical signals that are sent to the body, causing muscles or tissues to be more rigid or lengthier. This can create a soothing feeling and can be helpful in easing tension. Aromatherapy is the process of applying scents to certain parts of the skin that are known to ease tension or relax. If you're not able to spend on massage treatments, massage methods can provide similar results.

The same principles of therapeutic massage can be used to perform compression massage. The compression method compresses muscles in order to increase their length. Massage the muscles that are compressed releases endorphins, the body's "happy" hormones. This is known to help with discomfort and improve the body's capability to deal with stress. There is some evidence that this method may help reduce the severity and duration of injuries sustained during sports.

Another application of massage's benefits is in the treatment of sports injuries, specifically as applied during a warm-up or cool down session. Warm-up sessions are designed to relax muscles, boost blood flow and stretch them. The purpose of a cool-down session is to decrease the effects of stretching and to restore the length of muscles. Both have the same positive effect.

The practice of biomechanical stimulation massage has become popular in the sports industry. The technique makes use of both mechanical and electrical pressure to contract muscles of the body. Bio mechanical stimulation is based on the notion that the body functions via biological systems that are biomechanical in nature. This is the result of how the body operates and how tissues respond to inputs from both the nervous system (and the brain). When certain parts of the body are tight, the nerves receive signals telling the brain that something is wrong.

Another use of the advantages of massage therapy is for the alleviation of pain. This is usually found in professional sports where athletes are treated to specific massage therapy in order to lessen the pain and inflammation. This can also be observed in massage therapy in which patients are able to decrease inflammation in order for a herniated disk.
