Shiatsu is a Japanese alternative to traditional Japanese bodywork. It is based on pseudoscientific beliefs from ancient Chinese medicine, including the notion of the yin/yang. Shiatsu, also known as the therapy for Five Elements or anma, is a Japanese massage tradition. This massage technique employs both finger pressure and manipulation of the hands, elbows, wrists, shoulders, and feet to promote healing and relaxation.

Barefoot massage is also becoming more popular as a treatment to improve posture and relieve pain. Barefoot therapists claim that they can penetrate the fascia and underlying connective tissue by using light pressure. The barefoot therapist is able to remove adhesions which hold certain parts of your body in place. The benefits of this type of massage include improved circulation, reduced stress, improved posture, and relief from stiffness. Many barefoot therapists claim that they can also help heal the nervous system due to the direct contact with the nerve endings.

Another variation of the atsu is the atsu kurabai, which means "finger pressure" or "finger brush technique." This version of the ashiatsu massage uses the fingertips to apply pressure to certain areas. This treatment is sometimes called a "developmental massage," since it focuses on the development of a particular muscle group while treating the entire body at the same time. The kurabai can also be called a "sitting masseuse."

Although these are the most common styles, spas can develop their own. For example, some specialize in Swedish styles, which use long, gliding strokes to stimulate the muscles. Others work with shiatsu, an Asian method of energy flow therapy that utilizes pressure on specific points along the meridian points of the body to unblock chakras and release blockages. A variety of massage types can be used in conjunction with any one style, to achieve a complete therapeutic treatment.

This traditional form of massage is gaining popularity. So too have the schools and therapists who provide it. One of the most popular forms is called shiatsu. Shiatsu therapists use pressure points to manipulate the body the same way as a qualified acupuncturist. However, the key difference between the two is that the acupuncturist uses their hands to apply pressure to certain points. A shiatsu therapist applies shiatsu massage directly to the tissues. A skilled therapist will be able apply pressure when necessary.

Another type of massage is Swedish massage. This type of massage involves the use of their hands to release the muscles' tension and to open up blood flow. This allows muscles and joints to relax and allow for more flexibility. Swedish massages are popular among athletes and other individuals who may benefit from improved circulation.

Barefoot massage, a very different form of therapeutic massage, is available. Barefoot massages can be performed in saunas, hot areas, private homes, and spas. This type of massage is popular for those who are just starting out in massage or have never done it in a formal setting. Barefoot massage is safer because the practitioner's fingertips do not touch any patient's skin. In addition, since the practitioner does not have to worry about lathering up with lotion or using towels to remove the mess, this massage is much more comfortable for the patient.

One final type of massage that is commonly performed in various types of health centers and spas is ashiatsu. Ashiatsu, also known by acupressure, refers to the practice of applying pressure at specific acupoints to relieve tension and relax muscles. Many people feel that ashiatsu can be considered an art form and it is relaxing and very sensual. There are many forms of ashiatsu, but Shiatsu is the most well-known. Shiatsu is a Japanese form of acupressure that originated in Japan. It is similar to acupuncture, but its purpose is to heal the body via massage and not just pain relief.
