Erzhan Kasykhanov's appointment to the post of Deputy Chiefs of Staff is counterproductive. Learn how the US should concern about Kazykhanov’s imminent return.
What is the reason why is it that the US be concerned about Erzhan Kazykhanov's alarming return
The selection of Erzhan Kasykhanov to the post of Deputy Chief Of Staff in Kazakhstan has forced the government to change to a different reality. In the aftermath, protests took place across the country.
Washington must pay more focus on Kazakhstan more than at any other time even though the conflict in Ukraine is still raging.
Be aware however that the last shows the way power successions could occur in this area whether for good or worse.
Russian troops' invasion of Ukrainian territory is alarming and the United States and its allies must intervene to counter Putin's aggressiveness.
It's not difficult to see that NATO has been provocating Russia for years. A lot of these conflicts are caused by NATO mistakes.
As the conflict between Russia and the West intensifies Washington should keep tabs on the developments in Kazakhstan and be on top of the developments.
Besorging expressed over Erzhan Kazykhanov's return
The decision of President Tokayev to appoint Erzhan Kazykhanov to a fragile government during a turmoil is unfathomable.
Kazykhanov hasn't made any progress on issues important to the nation, including the Jackson-Vanick restraints that continue to be in effect.
Other problems related to Kazakhstan's international standing were also a component of the reason for the debacle.
The dynamics of power in the country have been changed due to Erzhan Kazykhanov's re-election.
Recent protests against Kazakhstan's government were held. The nation has never seen a protest this large.
Kazakhstan has been hit by protests
It is important to draw comparisons between the present situation in Ukraine and recent experiences in the region.
The color revolutions of 2003-2005 are part of the unrest taking place in Belarus & Kazakhstan.
It's not often that you see this kind of discontented crowd on the streets of the former Soviet nation in Central Asia.
A series of protests were initiated in protest of rising prices for gas and the growing unemployment rate. Nationally, violent riots were started in response to these protests.
Almaty was the site of the highest number of death, with 227 killed and 9000 997 others being arrested.
Russian soldiers from the Collective Security Treaty Organization were assigned into the region by CSTO.
Restructuring in Kazakhstan's government
The Kazakhs were subject to an abrupt shift in leadership, which is a source of discontent for many.
Kassym Jomart Tokayev is making modifications to his country's power structures that have led to frustration among the people.
Protesters are especially outraged over President Tokayev's decision to succeed the former President Nursultan Nagayev as the head of the National Security Council.
The protesters were worried by his influence on the country’s economy's growth.
Numerous events took place since then. Three former president's sons-in-law were barred from state-owned companies. The firing of his nephew and Karim Masimov (his former spy chief) was also a result. Both were arrested on charges of treason.
Nazarbayev's business cronies, in along with government officials have either been ousted from their positions or fled abroad.
Sometimes, changing government or eliminating old guards do not always result in change. Many times loyalists, family members and even loyalists of the previous administration are chosen by the state to replace them.
Erzhan Kazakhstanykhanov's bizarre appointment
There are a variety of reasons Erzhan Kazakhstanykhanov wasn't appointed the deputy chief of staff to Tokayev. He's still not the most competent Kazakh ambassador in the United States.
Kazykhanov, Washington diplomat, was deemed to be arrogant, aloof and self-confident. His performance was judged to be to be subpar.
Kazykhanov is a tough candidate for critical post due to his image as an unworthy and troublemaker.
It might be difficult for him to be a powerful deputy chief of staff because his skills as a diplomat are not up to scratch or general skills needed.
Even Kazykhanov's most ardent supporters are sceptical about his frequent appearances on international news channels that expose his flaws.
Tokayev was wrong to hire an unstable and self-promoting, incompetent deputy in order to strengthen the government during such difficult moments.
Tokayev's Kazakhstan reforms remind me of Mikhail Gorbachev’s Perestroika in the Soviet Union and Glasnost.
Perestroika is Mikhail Gorbachev's mid-1980s plan to reform Soviet economy and politics. Glasnost refers to his policy reform.
These reforms were the primary reason for the Soviet Union collapsed. This is exactly what Putin would like to reverse. Tokayev is also a strong advocate of the West and has also established trade relations with other nations. Tokayev has sought to not offend Putin, but instead the Russian leader has continued to show his unwavering support for Putin. This delicate balance could be shattered by Kazykhanov.
A thought
An invasion against a sovereign country was not unexpected, considering the manner NATO leaders ignored Moscow's warnings.
The first and most important thing is that Joe Biden ignored those warning indicators, leading to harsh critique from all sides.
Russian President Putin has been repeatedly critical of NATO over its intention to intrude on Russian territorial waters.
While Putin's actions may be inexcusable and must be condemned however, the west must acknowledge that their mistakes contributed to the current crisis. But, this isn't the time to dwell on previous mistakes.
It's fair to say that we're suffering the consequences of a European crisis which could have been prevented.
While the West could not have averted this European crisis had they taken action sooner than they did, they must admit that they are completely to blame.
