While things are being setup around here, I'd like to get the ball rolling with a basic guide for anyone starting out. This is great for anyone outside of the US or for anyone in the states who doesn't yet know how to make an account. Many of the payment processors and exchanges use SMS verification and being able to receive them is a necessity.

Once the software is installed and you're familiar with the method, each Google Voice number takes about 5-10 minutes to setup.

Requirements:
- $0 (It's free)
- Socks in the area of the phone to be setup. I haven't tried without socks however it's good practice to use them regardless.
- Linphone https://www.linphone.org/downloads-for-desktop.html
- An email to setup the Google Voice account

Process:

1. Install Linphone.

2. Setup an email account. This will be used for registration on Google, ipkall and callcentric.

3. Go to https://www.callcentric.com/login/ and make an account.

4. Login to your account on callcentric and note the SIP phone number. It will be located to the top-left of the landing page after you login and will look similar to this 19992XXXXXX

5. Once you've located your SIP phone number, go to http://phone.ipkall.com/. Choose any area code from the drop-down box and fill in the following:

SIP URI: Your callcentric SIP phone [email protected] EG. [email protected]
Email address: The email address you created earlier
Password: Use the same password as for your callcentric account

6. Once you've filled it in, press submit and before long you'll receive an email with the following:
Thank you for signing up. Your IPKall phone number is: 206-XXX-XXXX.
SIP Phone Number: 19992881337
SIP Proxy: in.callcentric.com
Email: Email you used
Password: Password you used

7. Open Linphone and do the following:
Navigate to Options -> Preferences -> Manage SIP Accounts (tab)
Press Wizard, follow the prompts and select the option 'I already have a SIP account and I just want to use it'
Fill in the following fields:
Username: Your callcentric SIP number EG. 19992881337
Password: The password you used
Domain: callcentric.com (Not in.callcentric.com)
Leave the proxy field blank

8. Press apply and your account is now setup to receive VOIP calls. Navigate back to the main Linphone window and make sure your account that you just made is selected under 'My current identity:'

9. Go to voice.google.com and setup a Google account. You can use your existing email that you created for this if you like. When it comes to verification, if you have a Google Voice account already you can use it for SMS verification, otherwise you can opt to receive a phone call. If you decide to receive a phone call, use your VOIP number from ipkall, EG. 206-XXX-XXXX.

10. Once your account is setup, is sms/phone verified and you are on voice.google.com, click on the button to create a new number on the bottom-left of the page. You will be required to provide an existing number to forward calls to, use your ipkall VOIP number. Make sure you have Linphone open, once you do then follow the prompts. A robot will call and using the keypad in Linphone, punch in the verification code.

11. When your account is verified, enter the zip code for the area that you're working on and you will be presented with a list of free numbers. Choose one and you're good to go!

With the Google Voice account you can receive SMS' and calls. To receive calls, just make sure Linphone is open. To make a new account, repeat steps 2-11.

These numbers are great for verification purposes as you can tailor each number to a specific area.
