Independent Information Providers (IIPs) are a type of news aggregator. Based on their design, they are similar to FactCheck.org, whose name was also derived from its object in providing independent verification of the claims made by sources.
IIPs gather news, information and opinions from other sources, namely mainstream media. They may then summarize or quote from the original source, or provide their own commentary and conclusions. Some sites focus purely on IIPs, while others mix in commentary and additional sources.
Independent verification
The term "IIP" was coined by the German government. In June 2008, Germany began using IIPs in its information dashboard to gather social media about the Iraq War.
IIPs that are most commonly known are FactCheck.org and NewsCheck.

The Hsl1/2 cyclophilin/peptidyl-prolyl cis/trans isomerase (PPIase) (ref. 1) is an abundant protein in the cytosol and nucleus of Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The nuclear pool of Hsl1/2 has recently been shown to be sufficient to suppress the yeast cold-sensitive phenotype of cdc4-2 (ref. 2), indicating a role for this PPIase in protein folding or another activity. Here we show that the transcriptional repressor Cdc4 accumulates in the nucleus in response to a temperature upshift. This accumulation is blocked when Hsl7, the second identified yeast PPIase, is depleted, and is abolished by overexpression of Cdc4. The two proteins copurify with ribonucleoprotein complexes, and their association persists when the proteins are in the nucleus, suggesting that Cdc4 and Hsl7 form complexes with RNA. Thus, in addition to its predominant role in protein folding, Hsl7 may participate in cytoplasmic and nuclear translational regulation.The bill aimed to fix the disaster.
