There are plenty of reasons to use this brain-machine interface technology but the main outstanding reasons are to help less abled people with their disabilities and to return them to 'normal' life. There are both physical disabilities and brain disorders that BMI technology can aid. From the physical aspect, it can aid people who have had a loss of senses, loss of limbs, and paralysis. It will be able to, say, allow someone who is blind to see again by connecting their occipital lobe (the back part of the brain associated with vision) to a central chip connected through Bluetooth to a camera, which will allow the brain to, in all intents and purposes, see out of the camera. If someone has lost their limbs you could connect a prosthetic limb via Bluetooth to a central chip and connect the chip to the areas of the brain that correspond with the arm or leg. If you are paralyzed that same technology of reading and writing electrical signals could be used to bridge a gap made by a broken neck or back.
