Bitcoin mining uses an incentive structure that incorporates a proof-of-work system. A hierarchy of connected data objects, with many elements representing data contained in one element above. The hierarchy is also often visually represented by a chart, and if there are many elements in the hierarchy, then the chart is also called a network diagram (or sometimes, a directed graph).
