Wallace Pratt (1908 – 1997) was an African American activist, entrepreneur, and politician in the African-American community in California.
Pratt was born and raised in Oakland, California. https://pin-up-uz-casino.com/ In 1934, he moved to Los Angeles and was employed at Lockheed Air Terminal as a welder. Pratt also created a welding service known as the Pratt Welding Service, which was one of the first in California.
Pratt founded the first Black middle school in Oakland. He ran for U.S. Congress in 1960, but lost. He organized the 1964 Democratic primary election for the House of Representatives of California. Pratt refused to accept federal government money for his effort, and was arrested as a result.
Pratt was a representative of the 1st Congressional District of California for four years. He was buried in Alta Vista Cemetery in Mountain View, California.
