Technoblade, 'Minecraft' YouTube Creator, Dies Aged 23

Technoblade Techblade, the most popular Minecraft YouTuber, has passed away aged 23 following a battle with cancer.



Technoblade the creator's father posted a touching clip to YouTube on Thursday entitled "so long geeks". It also included a message by Technoblade. His father stated that the video was a collaboration with his family during his final days. However, Technoblade wrote it eight hours before his death. The man revealed his real name in the message: Alex.



"Hello everyone, Technoblade here. This is what you should be seeing. I'm dead," he wrote in the message, which was read by his father. "Thank for all of you who have supported my content throughout the years. If I had another 100 lives I'm pretty sure I'd choose to be Technoblade each time as those were the happiest years of my life."

In the video, his father says, "He was the most amazing kid anyone could want. I miss Technoblade."



Technoblade, who has 10.8 millions YouTube subscribers, posted his August 2021 diagnosis of cancer to them on YouTube.



Technoblade's family posted a statement at the end of the video on Thursday.



"We, the Technoblade family wanted to let you know how the much he loved and admired his colleagues and his fans." Since the beginning of Technoblade's online presence, he was always strategizing ways to delight and reward his audience," it read.



"Even after his eventual success he somehow managed to keep his good-natured humility, competing with an endearing balance between self-confidence and self-deprecation with. He was determined to keep his identity a secret and stayed clear of fame. We ask that you honor his wishes to keep his privacy and that of his family.



Technoblade's online store also has an obituary in honor of him, explaining that a portion of proceeds from online orders will be donated to the Sarcoma Foundation of America. "This online store is being managed by Technoblade's family. We're aware of the joy he has brought to the world over the years and we want to ensure that we continue to spread his message," it reads.



A black T-shirt is just one of the items available in the store. It features the words "so long geeks" beneath it.



Technoblade's fans and friends have also posted touching tributes on his behalf online. Some are fellow creators, while others collaborate, and others have been following Technoblade for many years.



Hypixel, a Minecraft minigame server, posted an impressive tribute to Technoblade, too because Technoblade was a frequent participant on the server. In a statement, founder and CEO Simon Collins-Laflamme described Technoblade as "one of the most internationally popular YouTubers."



"He will be remembered fondly and missed deeply," the post read. He was a gifted compassionate, kind, and a passionate young man with incredible potential. We are truly grateful to him and thankful to have him as such a prominent part of the larger community. Technoblade's success is in many ways dependent on our success.



Technoblade's family was also encouraged to pay tribute to the team in "any main lobby" of the server.



Technoblade launched his channel in 2013, and quickly gained acclaim. He's been called "one of the top Minecraft players in the space of content creators".
