Lego takes on Minecraft by introducing a video game

Danish toy company Lego has announced a competitor to the game Minecraft.
Lego Worlds is available now for purchase at PS11.99, via the Steam gaming platform. The final release, which will include classic and modern playsets and famous mini-figures, will be released in 2016.
Features will be added in response to feedback from players of the game.
Lego already sells Minecraft playsets that allow gamers to physically create their own virtual creations. Lego Worlds invites fans to do the reverse.
Tom Stone, TT Games director of management, said that Lego Worlds "embodies the physical, Lego brick building fun that fans have enjoyed for the years, but on a new digital platform that delivers a completely new type of experience using the iconic bricks."
"From the editor built brick-by-brick to discovering an expansive range of items, characters and creatures that will fill your worlds, the possibilities of creativity are endless," he added.
Favourite toy
Daniel Goldberg, who wrote an article about the development of Minecraft and Minecraft, said he was "surprised" that it took so long.
"Minecraft is exactly what Lego should have been doing 10 years ago," he said.
"I'm sure it will be a huge hit for them."
Markus Persson, the Swedish game developer who created Minecraft has not hidden his love of Lego. It seems that the love is mutual.
David Gram, Lego's Marketing Director, said in the past year that "Minecraft was a digital Lego." We only wish we had come up with it."
Mr Goldberg believes that Mr. Persson, also known as Notch will be "flattered by the outcome of the game."

He claimed that Lego was his favorite toy when he was a kid, and that it was the inspiration behind Minecraft. It was satisfying to see things complete."
"I do not believe there will be animosity. In general, game creators are delighted when they see someone copying their game.
Lego is marketed to children but also for an adult-only group of enthusiasts.
Microsoft purchased Minecraft last year. It is a huge success with both adults and kids.
"The audience for Minecraft, has proved itself to be quite large and I'm confident there will be plenty of room for both games," said Mr Goldberg.
Minecraft is the most streamed game on video.
