Have you ever attended an event in the metaverse before? Based on the latest category to be added to the MTV Video Music Awards roster, you probably should. This year's VMAs will hand out the award to a Moon Person for "Best Metaverse Performance," but there's no word on whether the award will be presented virtually.
The nominees are Ariana Grande, BLACKPINK, BTS, Charli XCX, Justin Bieber and Twenty One Pilots. Yes, your faves have been performing in the metaverse.
Each artist has put their own twist on their metaverse concert. Ariana Grande performed a space-themed show in Fortnite and BLACKPINK brought their "pretty savage" vibe to PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds Mobile. BTS sang their English-language chart-toppers "Butter" and "Permission to Dance" on a stage in Minecraft where the boys' oversized avatars tried to recreate their signature dance moves. Charli XCX, Twenty One Pilots and others opted for Roblox concerts. (It must be noted that Charli XCX's performance was a result of her collaboration with Samsung.) Justin Bieber also put on a show at Wave the virtual entertainment platform.
They are not the only performers in the metaverse. minecraft-servers-list.biz During the pandemic, virtual and metaverse performances were popular. Concerts online and virtual performances will remain popular, particularly as the metaverse is integrated into our lives.
The fact that it was acknowledged at the VMAs suggests metaverse performances could be a staple of the music industry. Only time will tell.
