Not content with just a few billions, Minecraft starts racking up more sales this week as it is released as a downloadable game for Xbox One - and perhaps PS4 too. Mojang's sandbox game will launch on September 5, 2015. 360 owners will be able upgrade to the Xbox One for $5/PS4. Microsoft states that this upgrade applies regardless of whether you have a disc or a download copy. The full price version costs $20/PS16.
While the PS4 date is not known however, Mojang's Daniel Kaplan tweeted that "Sony friends" are likely to get to see a "Minecraft surprise soon... or perhaps sooner?!" That tease followed an PlayStation France tweet that claimed the PS4 version will be available today, although no other Sony channels have confirmed that. We'll notify everyone as soon as we learn of a release date for the PS4 version.
Update: The PlayStation 4 version Minecraft seems to have launched in Europe. There's no word yet on when the game will reach North America or other territories. [Image: 4J Studios]
It is highly unlikely that the Vita version will be released this week. 4J Studios, the porting team, announced in the last week that it has "more work" to do before sending Vita builds to Sony for certification.

The latest versions of Minecraft feature worlds up to 36 times larger than the last-generation originals, along with larger draw distances. PS3 and Xbox 360 owners have the option of importing their worlds into the Xbox One and PS4 versions as well.
This announcement comes at the same time that Mojang released Minecraft1.8 on PC. It's the update that's been in development for the longest at the Swedish studio at 300 days. It's not surprising that the update is large, with a plethora of new features that you can check out here. Highlights include the addition of Guardian and Endermite mobs, which are balanced by the introduction of - 'd'awww rabbits. Oh and killer bunnies, who are less d'awww yet still a little d'awww.
