Are you a Newbie or Not?

About This Quiz As described by The New Yorker as a cross between Minecraft and the Hunger Games, this video game is wildly popular with kids, tweens, teens and beyond. In the short time between its release in September 2017 and November of 2018, the epic battle game has attracted 200 million players across the world. Of those, 78.3 millions are active players. Are you not sure of the significance? If you're a gamer consider how many games are covered in dust.

It's not just children in their basements with their parents playing, also. Many athletes and celebrities are obsessed with the sport like rapper Drake, who along with popular gamer Ninja broke the record for non-tournament Twitch viewers with 635,000 concurrent viewers at the peak of their live streaming. The global phenomenon is well-known because JuJu Smith-Schuster, a player from the Steelers, Josh Hart from Los Angeles Lakers and a host of other professional baseball players are regular participants. Eric Ebron, Indianapolis Colts tight end, even incorporates the game into a celebration of a touchdown dancing.

Fortnite isn't all roses and sunshine. Fortnite has been criticized for its use of popular dance moves and is currently facing lawsuits to determine if copyright laws are being violated. Fortnite has become so popular (or out of control, depending on your perspective) that parents are now hiring coaches to help their children succeed in the virtual world. So, how know are you about this worldwide spectacle? See what you know about Fortnite or be trendy and find out more about it by taking this quiz!

Nothing, it's completely free

Fortnite Battle Royale's genius is the fact that it is free to download to any gaming system. Minecraft servers V-Bucks can be used to purchase skins, pickaxes gliders, battle passes, and other items within Fortnite Battle Royale. Fortnite Save the World, a new version of the game is available. Players have to buy it. However, creator Epic Games says it'll become free-to-play sometime in 2018.

Shopping cart

That's right, a typical shopping cart is a vehicle in Fortnite terms. The only other vehicle currently available is the golf cart. What is the reason for this? Epic Games expressed concern about how adding more vehicles to the game will affect the overall flow.

Season 4 saw the destruction of Dusty Depot by an enormous meteor, effectively creating Dusty Divot. All locations in the game use alliteration for their names for example, Loot Lake, Greasy Grove and so on.

50 vs 50

Playground

Epic Games determines the time limits for LTM modes. Playground mode allows four players to practice the skills they'll need in the game. Players are able to be killed in Playground mode, but they can respawn instantly, unlike the regular game mode.

These pinatas are also referred to as "loot-llamas" and appear automatically in the game (only three locations in Battle Royale and 100 in Playground mode). They contain 200 different materials from all resources such as brick, wood, and even metal. They also have explosives, potions, and other useful items.

The weapons in Fortnite are coded according to how scarce they are in the game, and come with a descriptive title. From least to most rare they are: Common/Gray, Green/Uncommon, Blue/Rare, Gold/Legendary, and Purple/Epic.

Also known as "dance emoticons" within the game, players have the option to dance anytime on the lobby or on the battlefield. Aside from "Fresh," which is an adaptation of "The Carlton" players can also choose to do choreography such as "The Worm,"" Take the L" or "Disco Fever," which are all based off John Travolta's famous "Saturday Night Fever” moves.

Katy Perry

Alfonso Ribeiro

the backpack kid

If you haven’t seen someone floss, it is likely that your eyes haven’t been opened. The dance was invented in 2016 by an unnamed YouTube star who was just 15 years old. Known as "the backpack kid," he later performed the oddly hypnotic dance move during Katy Perry's appearance on Saturday Night Live. Fortnite added the dance to its dance emotes and it really made an impact.
