After selling an astounding 100 million copies (and counting) the world of Minecraft continues to grow today with new functionality and features. The latest "Friendly Update" allows Minecraft players on Windows 10, iOS, and Android (including the Gear VR Edition) to play online with each other in the same persistent Realms.
This update follows the introduction last year of cross-platform multiplayer through local networks. The new update is out today but the Minecraft developers also announced two major improvements that are specifically for the mobile-friendly "Pocket Edition." These are texture packs that are available today and allow you to change the appearance of the game and add-ons that let you modify the game's world more (create zombies that shoot fireballs for example), landing this fall. Additionally, these updates will be coming to the console versions of Minecraft next year. i love But remember kids, homework first.
