Technoblade, a YouTube celebrity who has gained millions of followers thanks to his humorous commentary on videos of him playing Minecraft was killed, his father announced through a video posted on his son's YouTube account.

Technoblade's Minecraft gameplay was watched by more than 11 million players. He was a commentator on camera. While he tended to focus on what was happening in the game, in certain videos, he described things that are as routine as going to the D.M.V. or as devastating as receiving a cancer diagnosis.
Is minecraft still a thing

A video called "so long nerds," that was uploaded to Technoblade's YouTube channel on Thursday, and has been watched more than 26 million times by Friday afternoon, deviated from the channel's standard aesthetic of colorful, pixelated bricks. Instead, Technoblade's father appears in a chair , accompanied by a small white dog on an unassuming white background.

His father, who doesn't reveal his name, reads the message from his son that begins: "Hello, everyone. Technoblade is here. You can see me dead if you're watching this.

The message continues to reveal Technoblade's first name, Alex, which he did not use online. The video also includes some photos of Alex with his family and friends. He had rarely presented himself in his YouTube videos, preferring instead to portray himself as his avatar: a crowned, sword-wielding pig.

Alex's letter states that "If I had another hundred years in my years, I believe I would choose Technoblade again every time." "Those were the most joyful years of my life."

His father, who is still emotional throughout the video says that the two of them had been discussing for months the idea to film a final movie. Instead, Alex decided to write the letter and died about eight hours after finishing the work, his father claims.

"I don't think he's said everything he wanted to say, but I believe he was able to get the most important points," he says.

The video concludes with a written statement that is attributed to Alex's mother who isn't named. She wrote that her son avoided personal fame and was self-deprecating when his channel grew in popularity.

"From Technoblade's earliest online days, he was always strategizing ways to delight and reward his audience, giving away online prizes in the name of encouraging sportsmanship and, perhaps most importantly, sharing his Minecraft adventures for entertainment and laughs," she wrote.

Alex's family could not be reached on Friday. Hypixel Gaming, a gaming firm has stated that Alex's family had requested no comment be sent to them. Don Pireso, the company administrator, wrote in a direct tweet that "The video they posted contains all the information they're confident about sharing."

Alex first publicly acknowledged his cancer diagnosis in a video uploaded to his channel in August. The video, which showed Alex's voice off camera, played the game. He maintained his self-deprecating and humorous style, refusing any attempt to be serious. He also revealed his age at the time, 22.

In the video, he described how the first round of chemotherapy made him exhausted to the point that he could barely sit up to make a virtual appointment with a doctor. He also joked "Sitting in the chair is I Superman?"

After experiencing severe pain in his arm, he claimed he was diagnosed. He initially dismissed it as a stress injury caused by playing video games, but after a few days of rest, he claimed his shoulder "was swelling like a tiger."

He also advised people to take a Covid-19 vaccine, saying that the cancer treatments had weakened his immune system, putting him at risk of serious illness from the coronavirus.

"I'm going to try and speak on behalf of all cancer patients when I say it is incredibly annoying when the hospitals are overwhelmed by patients dying of preventable illnesses," he said in the video. "I'm just saying, we're entitled to those hospital beds."

On social media, Technoblade's friends and followers have praised him for his wit and for being a role model for Minecraft players.

Minecraft is distinct from other games because its creator, Microsoft does not have control over the servers on which players can meet online. Players can instead create their own servers or join one created by someone else, resulting in a sprawling universe of worlds within the Minecraft universe.

Hypixel who manages a network of Minecraft servers, announced that it had created a digital book in which people could write messages and the book would be printed and sent to Technoblade's loved ones. The tribute featured a picture of Technoblade's pig-like avatar as sculpture. "In many ways the success of many of us is linked to Technoblade's success. Technoblade," the company said.
