Microsoft is Bringing Minecraft Legends, Lies of P and a Bunch more To Gamescom

The Xbox lineup for Gamescom's 2019 first in-person appearance has been announced.

Microsoft has announced its plans for the upcoming Gamescom 2022 (opens in new tab) event that will be held later this month in Cologne, Germany. This year's event will be the first time Microsoft has held an in-person showing at Gamescom since 2019 however, for the benefit of those who aren't able to attend (which we'll admit is a majority of us) it will also provide livestreamed presentations (opens in new tab) that will feature interviews and gameplay from multiple studios and games.

The Xbox Booth at Gamescom livestream will begin at 5 am 8 am PT/8 am ET on the morning of August 25 (it's in Europe, remember) and will continue until 11 am PT/2pm ET. persiancatrescue Along with the English-language broadcast the event will be available in German, French, Polish, Italian, Spanish (Latin American and Castilian), Brazilian Portuguese, Japanese, Korean, and Chinese (Simplified) in addition with ASL, BSL and DGS interpretation as well as English Audio Descriptions.

A full schedule will be made available closer to Gamescom however, this is "a taste of what to expect":

Microsoft Flight Simulator (opens in new tab) (Asobo Studio and Xbox Game Studios Publishing) Gunfire Reborn (opens in new tab) (Duoyi Games / 505 Games)

Sea of Thieves (opens in new tab) (Rare Games (Rare Games) Xbox Game Studios)

Lies of P (opens new tab) (Neowiz

High On Life (opens in new tab) (Squanch Games)

Grounded (opens in a new tab) (Obsidian Entertainment / Xbox Game Studios)

Pentiment (opens new tab) (Obsidian EntertainmentPentiment (Obsidian Entertainment Xbox Game Studios).

A Plague Tale: Requiem (opens in new tab) (Asobo Studio / Focus Entertainment)

Minecraft Legends (opens in new tab) (Mojang Studios & Blackbird Interactive / Xbox Game Studios)

Planet of Lana (opens new tab) (Wishfully/Thunderful)

Age of Empires 4 (opens new tab) (Relic Entertainment and World's Edge/ Xbox Game Studios).

There's certainly plenty of interesting stuff to look at. Pentiment, a 16th-century narrative adventure in development at Obsidian, is probably at the top of my list, but Lies of P-the Pinnochio Bloodborne-alike-looks darkly promising too, and of course everyone is waiting for a closer look at Minecraft Legends, the RTS Minecraft spinoff. Another game I am excited about is Planet of Lana, an indie platformer due out later in the year.

If you're unable to attend Gamescom in person Microsoft will have a range of games for public play (including Lies of P, Planet of Lana) and you'll be able to take photos with, among others, the VASCO robot of Starfield and a five meter-wide Broodmother Spider from Grounded. Here's how you can get in:

Thursday August 25, 10:00am - 8:15pm CEST

Friday August 26th from 10:00am to 8:00pm CEST.

- Saturday, August 27, 9:00am - 8:00pm CEST

Sunday, August 28th, 9:00am 8:30am - 8:45pm CEST

Gamescom 2022 will get underway in earnest with Geoff Keighley's Opening Night Live show, that will begin at 11 am PT/2 pm ET on the 23rd of August. GamesRadar's trusted friend the Future Games Show (opens a new tab) will also be running on August 24, with 50 games by a variety of developers.

He later played the Sierra Online adventures and Microprose sims. He also ran a local BBS and was taught how to build computers. This resulted in a lifelong love for RPGs and immersive sims. He began writing about videogame news in 2007 for The Escapist and somehow managed to avoid being fired until 2014 when he joined the storied ranks of PC Gamer.
