Benefits of Learning a Third Language
Today, learning a language is very beneficial and many people try to learn a different language. Some of them go to courses, some learn by themselves, and some learn at school, and ı think it is important to make an attempt to learn a new language since it is not a waste of time even if one knows English, rather a good thing for the ones who want to improve themselves and their lives for these reasons: making foreign friends and learning about new cultures and foods.

Firstly, learning a third language makes us meet new people around the world. According to a survey result, which was conducted in 2008, by a famous research company, many people today have foreign friends living in different countries. For instance, my friend speaks English very well and has many friends in America.

Secondly, English isn’t enough by itself if we travel to a country where English isn’t spoken and if the local people don’t know how to speak English. For instance, in a documentary I watched on an American local television channel, a group of people went to Africa and couldn’t speak the local language of Africa. Thus, they had a hard time because 80% of the local people forgot how to speak English after living in Africa for a few months. And, they slowly started to learn the local language of Africa and started to get along with people with the language.

In conclusion, learning a third language helps us meet people from all over the world and when we go to a country whose local people don’t speak English, we don’t have a hard time getting along with people so I’m in favor of people learning a lot of foreign languages even they know English or not. Therefore, I think language is very important in today’s world, all people should know at least two foreign languages.
