Technoblade, Popular Minecraft Creator, Dies from Cancer at 23

LOS ANGELES (Variety.com) - Technoblade is a top YouTube creator who specialized in Minecraft let's play videos was killed one year after he was diagnosed with the diagnosis of cancer according to a statement from his family. He was 23 years old.



Technoblade's YouTube channel has shared an emotional YouTube video where the YouTuber's dad revealed that his son had died. "He was the most wonderful child anyone could ever ask for," his father said. "I am so sorry for Technoblade."



Thursday's uploaded video, entitled "so long geeks" contained a posthumous note from its creator to his fans. It was read by his father. "Hello everyone, Technoblade here. Technoblade's message revealed that his real name was Alex. "Thank you for all your support for my work over the years. I believe Technoblade would be my choice if I had another hundred lives. Those were the most enjoyable years of my life.



On Technoblade's website, a message says "In the memory of his passing A portion of the profits from all online purchases will be donated to a wonderful organization called curesarcoma.org," linking to the Sarcoma Foundation of America.



Technoblade the online avatar of Technoblade, who was crowned as a King Pig, has 10.8 million viewers on his YouTube channel. "I play too many video games. I may not be the best but I do have hot elbows," his YouTube bio reads.



A statement at the end of the video that was shared Thursday read "We the Technoblade family Technoblade we wanted you to know just how much he loved and admired his followers and colleagues. From the very beginning of Technoblade's online existence, he was always strategizing ways to please and reward his audience. He was able to maintain his humour and good nature despite his success and maintain an enthralling balance between his confidence and his self-deprecating humor. He was averse to fame and made every effort to keep his true identity confidential, and we ask you to honor his wishes to protect his privacy and that of his family."



The statement continued, "This past year has had a lot of bumps for our son, who was fighting cancer of the stage four. But he didn't complain, and kept using his famously shrewd mind to overcome what he thought were impossible odds. My son's courage on this journey was a shining lesson to all of us who had the privilege to be able to walk with him. Thank you for sharing the journey he took and for doing the work he loved to do for his beloved fans."



According to his father, Technoblade sent his final message to his fans just eight hours before his death. "I do not think Technoblade said everything he wanted to say, but I think he understood the major points," his father said.



Technoblade announced his diagnosis of cancer in August 2021. He said he started feeling pain in his right arm earlier in the month, initially thinking it was a recurrent stress injury caused by gaming. After several days the shoulder began swelling and thought he might have fractured bone. He was later diagnosed with cancer.
