Minecraft has been updated with a tribute to the streamer Technoblade, whose death from cancer was announced by his family last week. The splash image for Minecraft in the game's launcher now has a pig wearing a golden crown, a reference to Technoblade's Minecraft character, a royal pig-man wearing a bejeweled crown.
Friday's tweet from the Minecraft team stated that they were "heartbroken" by the passing of Technoblade and that he "brought such happiness to the community of gamers."
We've been trying to find the words but we're all hurt by the loss of Technoblade. He meant so much to our community and brought us so many smiles. He will be greatly missed.
Technoblade was a renowned Minecraft streamer who had more than 13 million subscribers on YouTube. Technoblade was also part of the hit server Dream SMP. Technoblade's father sent an email from Technoblade and talked about the process involved in making the final video, in the midst of Technoblade was fighting cancer. As of this writing the video has more than 54 million views.
Technoblade has been the subject of numerous tributes from streamers and other members of the Minecraft creator community. game servers A number of fan art pieces were posted on Twitter in memory of Technoblade in the last days.
Although the Minecraft team hasn't yet acknowledged the splash screen update, it is evident that it made this small change as a tribute. The original version of the launcher image shows the pig in the exact position, but it doesn't have Technoblade's signature crown.
