Seven amazing Minecraft creations By Joe Miller Technology reporter
Many of us will have been first introduced to Minecraft when Microsoft announced that it would pay $2.5bn (PS1.5bn) for the company that developed the top-selling video game.
For several years an entire community of gamers has been working in the Minecraft universe, creating intricate cyberspace marvels.
Here are seven of the best:
Game of Thrones
Mapmakers WesterosCraft is on a mission: to recreate the world George RR Martin created in the Game of Thrones books. The goal is to provide a stage for roleplaying within the fantasy world.
A working 16-bit computer
In less than two weeks, an Minecraft gamer named ohmganesha created a 16-bit computer. The virtual computer has 32 bytes RAM (random-access memory) and 256 bytes ROM (read only memory).
This Cathedral
Patrix, the edifice's architect said that it took him just a couple of nights to construct. He claimed that he'd never been inside the cathedral in person.
A working hard drive
Cody Littley's hard drive can hold one kilobyte of data. This may seem small when compared to ordinary discs. But, when you take into account that Mr Littley is an enrolled Texas computer science PhD student, built it piece by piece.
An entire city
The artists behind the Aurora City Project admit it may never be completed, and the detail of their cityscapes give some clues as to why. Here are some photos.
All of Denmark
The Danish government's quest to get the entire country mapped on Minecraft was a way to educate children. The project was later targeted by vandals and parts of the landscape were destroyed with virtual "dynamite".
