The Xbox One, PS4 and Vita versions of Minecraft are scheduled to launch in August for $20, Mojang announced today. On Xbox One and PS4, the game is $5 for those who already have Minecraft on Xbox 360 or PS3. The Vita edition is a cross-buy game, which means that if you already have Minecraft on PS3, you get it on Vita for free. All PS3 DLC is compatible with the Vita version, though not all textures and skins work on PS4 or Xbox One versions, due to licensing agreements.
Minecraft The Xbox One and PS4 editions offer larger worlds than current-gen versions. Both allow users to import saved data from PS3 + Vita and Xbox 360 games. However, saves don't transfer from the next-gen system to current-gen.
Mojang states that there are technical reasons as to why this is the case. "We can create a larger world without stress but shrinking them can cause many problems."
