Mr. Jones owns the Manor farm
locked the hen-houses, but too drunk to shut the popholes (a small opening which an animal may pass)
Mrs. Jones, already asleep when Mr. Manor made it to bed
Old Major (Willingdon Beauty) 12 years old, grown rather stout, but still a majestic-looking pig, wise and benevolent appearance, his tushes, horn-like teeth- the prize Middle White Boar, had dreams, and wished to communicate with the other animals
all animals should meet up in the Big Barn once Mr. Jones was safely out of the way (as in asleep)
on one end of the big barn, on a raised platform, Major sat on his bed of straw.
Three dogs, Bluebell, Jessie, and Pincher
then came pigs, hens, pigeons, sheep, and cows
Two cart-horses, Clover, a stout motherly mare, approaching middle life, "who had never quite got her figure back after her fourth foal"
and Boxer, an enormous beast, nearly 18 hands high (6'6"), and as strong as 2 horses together. He had a white stripe down is nose, wasn't of first-rate intelligence, but was respected for his character and powers of work. Sometimes spent Sundays with Benjamin in the small paddock
Muriel, the white goat, and Benjamin, the donkey. Benjamin is the oldest on the farm, and has the worst temper, never laughed, but was devoted to Boxer.
A brood of ducklings, who had lost their mother, filed into the barn
Mollie, the foolish pretty white mare who drew Mr. Jones's trap, came in, and started flirting for attention.
Moses, the tame raven, slept on a perch behind the back door
