Father of Technoblade, YouTube Minecraft Star Says that his Son Has Died

He read his son's last message on the YouTube channel where the 20-something had entertained over 11 million subscribers with Minecraft gameplay and humorous comments. The titlewas "so long nerds."

Technoblade, a YouTube personality who built an audience of millions thanks to his wry comments on videos of him playing Minecraft was dead as his father announced in a video posted on his son's account.

Technoblade's Minecraft gameplay was watched by more than 11 million subscribers. He provided commentary on camera. He presented every day life events in his videos which range from mundane as going to the doctor for a D.M.V. or as devastating as receiving a cancer diagnosis.

A video titled "so long nerds" which was posted on Technoblade's YouTube channel on Thursday and has been viewed more than 26 million times as of Friday afternoon, departed from the channel's typical style of colorful, pixelated blocks. Instead the man who identified himself as Technoblade's father appears, sitting in a chair against an uninspiring white backdrop with an adorable white dog on his lap.

His father, who does not identify himself, reads an email from his son that begins: "Hello everyone. Technoblade is here. Minecraft servers You can see me dead if you're watching this.

The message goes on to reveal Technoblade's first name, Alex, which he did not use on the internet. A few pictures of Alex and his family are also featured in the video. Alex rarely appeared in YouTube videos and preferred to display himself as a crowned, sword-wielding porcine avatar.

Alex's letter states that "If I had another hundred years to live, I'm sure I'd choose Technoblade each time." "Those were the most blissful years of my entire life."

His father, who remains emotional throughout the video, says he and his son talked for months about whether to make an end-of-the-line video. His father claims that Alex wrote the letter and passed away just eight hours later.

"I don't think he's was able to say everything he wanted say, but I believe that he understood the major points," he says.

The video ends with a written declaration that Alex's mother (who isn't identified) wrote. She said Alex was not famous and self-deprecating despite his channel's popularity growing.

She wrote that Technoblade was always seeking ways to delight and reward their customers. He offered prizes online and encouraged good sportsmanship and most importantly, he shared his Minecraft adventures for entertainment and fun.

Alex's family could not be reached on Friday. Hypixel Gaming, a gaming firm, said that the family asked that no comments be made to them. Don Pireso, the company administrator, said in a direct tweet "The video they posted contains all the information they're comfortable sharing right now."

Alex first publicly acknowledged his diagnosis of cancer in a video posted to his channel in August. The video, which showed Alex speaking off camera and played the game. He maintained his self-deprecating and humorous style, refusing to get too earnest. He also disclosed his age, which was 22.

He recalled how his first round of chemotherapy made him exhausted and unable to even get up for an appointment online with an oncologist. He also joked "Sitting in the chair do I look like Superman?"

After experiencing severe pain in his arm, he said he was diagnosed. He initially dismissed it as a repetitive strain injury from playing video games, however, after several days of rest, he stated his shoulder "was swelling like a tiger."

He also urged people to take the vaccine Covid-19, saying that the treatments for cancer affected his immune system, putting him at greater risk of developing serious illness from the coronavirus.

"I'm going to try and speak on behalf of all cancer patients when I say that it is incredibly annoying when the hospitals are overwhelmed by people dying of preventable diseases," he said in the video. "I'm just declaring that we are the first the right to have priority over those hospital beds.

On social media, Technoblade's family and fans praised him for his humor and for being a role model among Minecraft players.

Minecraft is unlike most games because its owner, Microsoft, does not manage the servers that players meet online. Instead, players can build their own servers and join others to create a vast universe of worlds within the Minecraft universe.

Hypixel, which manages a network of Minecraft servers, announced that it had created a digital book in which people could write messages and the book would be printed and delivered to the loved ones of Technoblade. The tribute included a photo of Technoblade's pig-like avatar as a statue. Technoblade's success is tied in numerous ways to the success and prosperity of many people.
