Not Enough Items (NEI), is a successor to Too Many Items (or Recipe Book). It was created at the same time as Craft Guide when Alexandria and some others on the IRC suggested I merge both Too Many Items and Recipe Book to eliminate their biggest shortcomings, and that was too many items, or in the case of recipe book, too many recipies. Too Many Items was great but it didn't have an easy method of sorting and searching your items. TMI and Recipe Book were both racking up pages when you had mods like Red Power with 10000 items. Even if you don’t want to cheat in items, the Recipe aspect of this mod will make you feel at home.
How to install: While Minecraft Forge is not required without it installed, if it's not installed, you won't see mobs in mobspawner items. The process of installing NEI has been changed. (For the simple again!). Install FML + OR Minecraft Forge + into the jar. Place the CodeChickenCore Jar file into the coremods folder. Place the NEI jar file into the coremods folder.
