Minecraft film'set to hit silver screen'

The block-building game Minecraft, which is hugely popular, could soon be made into a movie.
Markus Persson, Minecraft creator told this week that Warner Brothers was in conversation with him regarding the project.
Mr. Persson claimed he disclosed the details to deter another person who tried to divulge details about the deal.
Movie news site Deadline has reported that one of the producers of the recently released Lego Movie is handling the project.
Warner was planning to turn a "live action" version of the game into a feature film, said Deadline.
The film is still in its infancy, as Warner has just acquired the rights for Minecraft's iconic characters blocks, monsters, and blocks.
This news comes less than two months after Mojang, Minecraft creator, has shut down an Kickstarter campaign to raise funds to make a film inspired by the game.
Games
Hollywood has a history of remaking best-selling games for film. Many projects never make it to the production stage.
A film set in the science-fictional Halo universe, for instance has been in development for nearly nine years, but filming has not yet begin despite numerous scripts being written.
Similarly films based on Bioshock, Gears of War and Metal Gear Solid Work have all been talked about but none has yet to start shooting.
World of Warcraft is a game that is being developed into a film. Filming began in January with Duncan Jones, a British director. The film will be released in the first quarter of 2016.
