Seven amazing Minecraft creations by Joe Miller Technology reporter
Many of us will have been first introduced to Minecraft when Microsoft announced it was paying $2.5bn (PS1.5bn) for the company behind the most-loved video game.
But for several years now a dedicated community has been beavering away in the Minecraft universe, meticulously crafting intricate cyberspace wonders.
Here are seven of our favorites:
Game of Thrones
Mapmakers WesterosCraft is on a mission to recreate the world that George RR Martin created in the Game of Thrones books. The goal is to create a stage for roleplaying within the fantasy world.
A working 16-bit computer
A Minecraft gamer with the username ohmganesha built a functioning 16-bit computer in just two weeks. The virtual computer has 32 bytes RAM (random-access memory) and 256 bytes ROM (read only memory).
This Cathedral
Patrix, the architect of the structure claimed that it took him just two nights to build. He said he'd never been to a cathedral before in his life.
A hard drive that is working
Cody Littley's hard disk can store one kilobyte of information. This may seem small when compared to ordinary discs. However when you think about that Mr Littley is who is a Texas computer science PhD student, built it piece-by-piece.
An entire city
The Aurora City Project artists admit that it may never be completed. However, the intricate cityscapes demonstrate the reasons. Here are several pictures.
All of Denmark
To aid children's learning, the Danish government decided to map the entire country using Minecraft. The project was later vandalized and parts of the landscape were blown up using virtual "dynamite".
