PODGORICA (AP) Montenegro's security agency warned of a coordinated cyberattack by Russia on the country's government.

The Agency for National Security, or ANB has stated that Montenegro is "under a hybrid conflict at the moment."
The Adriatic Sea state, once considered to be a strong Russian ally, has since joined NATO despite strong opposition from Moscow. It has also embraced Western sanctions against Russia in protest at its invasion of Ukraine.
In addition to many European countries, Russia has added Montenegro to its list of "enemy states" because it is acting against Kremlin's interests.
The Montenegrin government has reported first in series of cyberattacks against its servers, however, it claimed to be able to avoid any damage. The attack is believed to be ongoing.
The ANB stated that coordinated Russian services were behind the cyberattack. "This kind of attack was carried in Montenegro for the first time, and has been planned for a long time."
Dusan Polovic, a senior government official, stated "I can assure you that this attack Montenegro is experiencing these days comes directly from Russia."
The U.S. Embassy in Montenegro advised its citizens in the Balkan states to be aware that a "persistent ongoing cyberattack" is taking place.
"The attack could cause disruptions to the public utility transportation (including airports and border crossings) and telecommunications sectors," it said.
