Minecraft's silent landscaper Steve is leaving his world of blocks and entering Telltale's realm of stories: Minecraft is getting a "narrative-driven" game from the folks behind The Walking Dead and Game of Thrones games. Minecraft: Story Mode, like Telltale's other works will be episodic and available on a variety of platforms when it launches "sometime in 2015." Evidently, Microsoft's pledge to keep Minecraft multiplatform is proving to be true, regardless of the acquisition.
Telltale is describing the game as an "partnership with Mojang," and says it won't exist as an extension of Minecraft -- it's an individual episode series "driven by player choice." minecraft-servers Mojang and Telltale both point out that they are working with the community to develop the narrative. Mojang specifically states, "We're certain that we will not develop a storyline for Steve [the main protagonist in Minecraft] or explain the world of Minecraft in detail."
There aren't any images or video of the game in action just yet, but we are expecting the same distinct art style like Minecraft. Minecraft.
