Microsoft is Bringing Minecraft Legends, Lies of P, and a whole Bunch more To Gamescom

The Xbox lineup for Gamescom-Microsoft's 2019 first-ever in-person appearance has been revealed.

Microsoft has announced its plans for the coming Gamescom 2022 (opens in a new tab) event that will be held later this month in Cologne, Germany. This year's Gamescom 2022 will be Microsoft's first in-person appearance at Gamescom since the beginning of 2019. However those who are unable to attend (which we'll be honest is a majority of us) the event will include a livestreamed presentation (opens new tab) which will include games and interviews from a variety of studios.

The Xbox Booth at Gamescom livestream starts at 5 a.m. 8 AM PT on August 25 (it's in Europe) and will continue until 11:01 PT/2PM ET. Along with the English-language broadcast the event will be accessible in German, French, Polish, Italian, Spanish (Latin American & Castilian), Brazilian Portuguese, Japanese, Korean, and Chinese (Simplified) as well as with ASL, BSL and DGS interpretation and English Audio Descriptions.

A more detailed schedule will be announced in the weeks leading up to Gamescom however, this is "a taste of what to expect":

Microsoft Flight Simulator (opens new tab) (Asobo Studio/ Xbox Game Studios Publishing). Gunfire Reborn is (opens new tab)(Duoyi Games/505 Games).

Sea of Thieves (opens new tab) (Rare Games/ Xbox Game Studios).

Lies of P (opens in new tab) (Neowiz)

High On Life (opens in new tab) (Squanch Games)

Grounded (opens in new tab) (Obsidian Entertainment / Xbox Game Studios)

Pentiment (opens in a new tab) (Obsidian Entertainment (Obsidian Entertainment) Xbox Game Studios)

A Plague Tale: Requiem (opens in new tab) (Asobo Studio / Focus Entertainment)

Minecraft Legends (opens in new tab) (Mojang Studios & Blackbird Interactive / Xbox Game Studios)

Planet of Lana (opens in new tab) (Wishfully or Thunderful)

Age of Empires 4 (opens new tab) (Relic Entertainment and World's Edge/ Xbox Game Studios).

There's certainly something interesting to be found there. Pentiment, a 16th-century narrative adventure in development at Obsidian, is probably at the top of my list, but Lies of P-the Pinnochio Bloodborne-alike-looks darkly promising too, and of course everyone is waiting for a closer look at Minecraft Legends, the RTS Minecraft spinoff. The indie platformer Planet of Lana, due out later this year is another one that I am excited about.

If you can't attend Gamescom in person Microsoft will have a range of games available to play in public (including Lies of P, Planet of Lana) and you'll be able to take pictures with among them the VASCO robot from Starfield and a five-meter-wide Broodmother Spider from Grounded. Here's how you can get in:

Thursday, August 25 from 10:00am to 8:00pm CEST.

Friday, August 26th - 10:00am 8:45pm CEST

Saturday August 27 9:00 am - 8:00 9:00 PM CEST

- Sunday, August 28 9:00am - 9:00pm CEST

Gamescom 2022 will begin in full force with Geoff Keighley's Opening Night Live show, which will start at 11 am PT/ 2 pm ET on August 23. The Future Games Show (opens in new tab) hosted by our good friends at GamesRadar will air at the same time on August 24 and will feature a showcase of 50 games from a variety of different developers.

From there, he moved on to the era of Sierra Online adventures and Microprose sims, ran an online BBS and learned to build PCs, and developed a longstanding love of RPGs, immersive sims, and shooters.
