Cairngorms recreated in video game Minecraft

The Cairngorms The landscape of the Cairngorms has been recreated in the video game Minecraft to help young people learn how to manage a national park.
The virtual world, in which players can create anything with blocks covers all 1,700 square miles (4,402 sq km) of the park, which includes parts of Highland, Moray, Aberdeenshire and Perthshire.
The settlements were destroyed and Cairngorms Youth Activity Team members are requested to establish new communities.
It's designed to get them thinking about the way in which planning decisions are taken.
It is reasonable to say, however, that the team doesn't take it seriously.
Minecraft creates remote islands
Campbell is a 16-year-old from Aviemore, has been creating a hill fort at Cairn Gorm's top. It is among the UK's highest mountains.
He explains: "It doesn't get the temperature across very well but it can get the landscape.
"We've seen the corries and been up the Cairngorms. The Lairig Ghru is quite recognisable.
"It's as real as could be. The different types of trees will tell you where you are and whether there are trees.
A fellow player Ellie Moore said: "While we're working to construct things and farm, we're faced with this constant barrage of monsters and enemies that come out at night
"So it's been a challenge to venture out into this world, as you're constantly battling to survive, but I'd say that where you have been thus far is pretty precise."
Recreating the park was the result of a lockdown project Dan Harris carried out in his free time.
He is the director of planning for Cairngorms Park Authority during the day.
He explained: "They're basically dropped onto the map at the point where Aviemore ought to be. Minecraft-skins.Biz They've been asked to form an area or community that is compatible with the goals of the national park.
"They should think about how they can protect and enhance the natural world , and how they make sustainable uses of resources."
