Although it's possible to feel that Minecraft is all over the world, gamers have had to wait as the popular franchise launched on all other platforms of the company bar Nintendo's. Today however, we have some positive news after months, and years, of waiting, the Japanese game maker confirmed the sandbox game is finally coming to the Wii U on December 17th. As expected, Minecraft will come with a multitude of add-on packs that will give new builders the chance to dress up before Christmas or play with characters from popular TV and movies like Star Wars, The Simpsons and Dr Who.

Mojang also uses the Wii U’s Off-TV play feature to allow gamers to transfer their worlds to their GamePad controllers, and also allow other family members to take over of the TV. When it debuts on the Nintendo eShop in North America next week, Minecraft will cost $30 -- there's currently no word on how much it'll cost UK and European gamers.
