Minecraft's silent landscaper Steve is leaving his solitary world and entering Telltale's world of stories: Minecraft is getting a "narrative-driven" game by the team behind The Walking Dead and Game of Thrones games. Like other Telltale games, Minecraft: Story Mode will be episodic and will be available on a wide variety of platforms when it launches "some time in 2015." Apparently Microsoft's promise to keep Minecraft multiplatform is still in place, regardless of the acquisition.
Telltale describes the game as a partnership with Mojang and says it won’t be an add-on to Minecraft. Instead it will be a standalone series "driven by player preference." Both Mojang and Telltale point out that they're working with the community on the development of the storyline, and Mojang specifically states "We're not planning on creating an official story for Steve [the main protagonist of Minecraftor explaining the world of Minecraft in depth."
We don't have any photos or videos of the game in action but we're expecting a similar, distinct style to Minecraft's art style.
