"Belphegor"
Belphegor adalah dewa kuno bangsa Kanaan dan hadir dalam beberapa mitos Ibrani. Belphegor (atau Beelphegor, Ibrani: בַּעַל-פְּע baʿal-pəʿōr - Lord of the Gap) mengandung arti sebagai "Raja Terbuka" dan "Raja Baal dari Gunung Phegor". Belphegor yang dikenal dengan nama Baal-Peor, berkuasa atas kesuburan, baik dalam bidang pertanian maupun seksual.
Belphegor sendiri mewakili kemalasan, dan berkuasa juga atas pria yang menderita karena cinta. Menurut beberapa demonologists di abad ke-16, kekuasaannya lebih tinggi atau kuat pada bulan April.
Belphegor mendorong seseorang untuk mendapatkan kekayaan dengan cara mudah dan jika perlu dengan menipu. Setelah kaya maka waktunya untuk bermalas-malasan tanpa bekerja. Belphegor biasanya di sembah oleh orang yang ingin mendapatkan harta dengan cara gampang (pesugihan) tapi biasanya Belphegor akan meminta upeti yakni anak pertama sang penyembah, atau upeti jiwa sang penyembah saat dia meninggal, orang tersebut akan menjadi budak Belphegor di neraka dimana dia berkuasa.
Dalam Tradisi Gereja Katolik, Belphegor berkuasa Belphegor berkelana ke bumi dan hidup di antara para manusia. Selama beberapa waktu, Belphegor menyamar sebagai manusia demi merasakan pengalaman seksual. Lalu Belphegor melarikan diri dan kembali ke neraka, merasa senang bahwa hubungan antara pria dan wanita tidak terjadi di neraka.
