Minecraft Gets Twitch-y Thanks to new Partnership For Integrated Streaming

Twitch and Mojang have teamed up to offer an integrated streaming experience for indie sensation Minecraft, the companies announced at MineCon today. Players on PC and Mac with an active Twitch account will be able stream their games to their Twitch.tv channels "soon," according to an announcement in a press announcement.



Matthew DiPietro (Vice President of Marketing at Twitch) stated in the same press release that Minecraft had "struck a very strong chord" with Twitch users. "Its constant growth in popularity proves that people enjoy watching games on video, besides the eSports titles that are a big draw. When Twitch allows you to broadcast gameplay live expect a dramatic event for both players as well as viewers.



Although this announcement is aimed at PC and Mac users It's important to know that the Xbox One will be getting its own version of Minecraft and Twitch is integrated into Microsoft's next-gen system. Twitch Announces a Minecraft Partnership at MINECON 2013.



Mojang's Minecraft PC and MAC users will soon be able broadcast their games to Twitch with a click of a button



SAN FRANCISCO 2nd November 2013 Twitch, the world’s most popular video platform and community for gamers announced today at the sold-out MineCon convention an agreement to partner with Mojang to provide broadcasting functionality for Minecraft. The integration of Twitch into the PC and MAC versions of the top selling game lets players broadcast directly to their Twitch channels. The Twitch functionality will be live shortly.



Published and developed by Mojang Minecraft was released on May 17 2009. It is the most played PC sandbox adventure game, selling more than 13,000,000 units on PC and more than 33 million units across all platforms. It's also the recipient of numerous notable awards, including five Game Developers Choice Awards at the 2011 Game Developers Conference. In the end, MINECON 2013, Mojang's annual Minecraft convention, has sold out with more than 7,500 attendees eager to discover what's next for one of the most innovative games of all time and also to meet the team that created it.



The game's popularity also been growing on Twitch with a constant presence on the site's Top 20 Games viewed each month. This has been true since Twitch was launched in 2011.
