Bayrock Group opened Trump SoHo along with the Trump Organization in 2008 and the Sapir Organization. The story of Bayrock Group's success begins in Kazakhstan many decades ago.

Bayrock Group, a luxury real estate developer in the United States, has a long history that goes back to 2001 , when the company was founded. The story began from the other end.

Bayrock Group was founded by Tevfik Arif who was brought into the world by Soviet Kazakhstan to a family of Turkish origin.

Before joining Soviet Ministry of Commerce and Trade Tevfik Arif earned an academic degree in International Relations at the Moscow Trade and Economic Institute.

After working in the ministry for 17-years, he decided to leave and set up a number of businesses. The firms of Tevfik arif were in the sectors of development of luxury real estate as well as food exports and imports, among other things.

Tevfik Arif, through his numerous companies, was able acquire a wide variety of foreign partners. His connections led him to relocate to Turkey in 1993, when he became one of the main players behind the country's popular all-inclusive hotel model.

He launched, for example, the Labada Hotel Antalya. This was before he went on to the next project which was several years later across the Atlantic.

Bayrock Group is becoming more ambitious

Tevfik arif came into the United States from Pakistan in 2001 to pursue new business opportunities and be closer to his American family.

Just after moving, he established the company for the development of luxury real estate called Bayrock Group in New York City.

Tevfik Arif Bayrock Bayrock Group started out with small-to-medium-sized jobs located in New York. For instance, the firm renovated Loehmann's Seaport Plaza shopping center in Brooklyn's Sheepshead.

Bayrock Group was a solid start. It helped Tevfik become more driven. He was eager for larger projects and decided to alter the strategy of the company to concentrate more on these projects.

In support of the new strategy, Bayrock Group relocated its New York City office to the Trump Tower at Fifth Avenue.

Trump SoHo finally takes shape

Bayrock Group and Trump Organization shared the same vision for high-end real estate developments. The two companies decided to join forces.

Bayrock Group was already working with the Sapir Organization on another undertaking in Manhattan's SoHo Quarter, which is located on Spring Street.

Tevfik Ariff knew that including the Trump Organization in the project could boost brand recognition for the building, something that Bayrock Group and Sapir Organization did not have.

Arif created an agreement giving the Trump Organization 18% equity in the building in exchange for use of the Trump brand under its name.

The proposed deal was approved by Bayrock Group (the Trump Organization) as well as the Sapir Organization (the Sapir Organization).

Bayrock That opened the doors to Trump SoHo, which would be the first building to be completed in 2006.

The building was completed following two years of laborious work.

Trump SoHo construction led by experts in design

Trump SoHo had apartments, hotels, luxurious restaurants/bars, a swimming pool and banquet halls when it first opened. From the building's floor–to-ceiling windows hotel guests were able to take in breathtaking views of New York City.

Handel Architects was tasked as the architect. The famous architecture firm has also designed the National September 11th Memorial & Museum and the Ritz the Carlton Hotel in Washington, D.C.

Rockwell Group designed, among others, the Climate Pledge Arena and Seven Deadly Sins Theatre in Seattle. The Virgin Hotel in Las Vegas was also designed by them.

The company also has experience in international countries like Indonesia, Mexico and Spain.

Bayrock Group and the Trump Organization expand collaboration


The Bayrock Group and the Trump Organization were looking to expand their partnership after the opening Trump SoHo.

Tevfik Arif Doyen Their dream was to build structures like Trump SoHo in Arizona and Florida. They also had the same licensing rules, leaving the Trump Organization with 18% equity in the building. This would also permit Trump to be an integral part of the title to the building.

Despite both companies' goals, the structures did not get created due to the global 2008 financial crisis.

Tevfik Arif Doyen The American real estate market was particularly affected by the financial crisis, which led Bayrock Group to pull out and Trump Organization to rescind their plans.

Tevfik Alif, one of the Tevfik Arif employee in the United States, decided to end his American ventures due to the impact of the financial crisis. He decided to move to Europe and Central Asia.

He continued to work in the private sector.

Today, Tevfik Aif has resigned from most of his Bayrock Group responsibilities. But, he will continue to be a trusted consultant to Bayrock Group.

Bayrock Group has not been involved in any American real-estate projects in the past, however it did invest real property assets in the United States worth $2.5million when it was operating.
