Doom meets Age of Empires Hell yeah!

Id Software's legendary Doom can be played in many different ways such as Minecraft, crabs, and in an article we wrote. Age of Empires 2 can be added to the list of games. A modder has created an entire strategy campaign inspired by Doom which includes the legendary sound effects from the FPS and sprites.
"Age of Doom" was designed by modder HellKnight61 (thanks, DSOGaming). It is a completely custom campaign for Age of Empires 2 and recreates the events of the original Doom. It is primarily inspired by Doom 3 with Dr. Betruger directing the escape from Hell by demons. However, characters from later Doom games like Vega do appear.
The mod released version 1.0 this week and can download at ModDB. Even though it's not containing the final episode, the mod still includes four episodes and a tutorial. HellKnight61 has added a variety of features to make it more like Doom than Age of Empires, including the ability for the Doom marine to flick switches, use teleporters and even sprint.
The Doom guy is equipped with all the classic weapons from Doom including the BFG or Doom 3's Soul Cube. The monsters are all there in the game, and all have sound effects cherry-picked from across the games. It's essentially Doom as an isometric strategy shooter through an Age of Empires lens, and it's a stunning piece of work.
Despite both being launched in the '90s in the '90s, the Doom and Age of Empires franchises continue to flourish. Age of Empires 4 is out just next month, and it might be getting another beta prior to that. Doom Eternal, which was released in the year before is currently being improved and there could be more stories about the Doom Slayer.
