Ewpratten - Overview

Since the fifth grade, I have been creating software. I started my journey with Python and JavaScript. Years later, I'm still creating software professionally and for fun in various languages. Two computer scientists as parents may have influenced me to this honestly.



Outside of work, I almost exclusively create open-source software and it is all available on this GitHub account. For personal projects, I like to iterate, experiment and create as quickly as I can, which has led me to have a habit of releasing projects every three or so days. Many of these projects were created out of necessity to be used in other projects or as exercises to learn from. Feel free to fork and contribute to any of these projects. Any feedback you give me is appreciated.

Notable past projects



In the past, I've been involved in a variety of interesting projects of different size. I was an (very) popular user on devRant, and have been involved in a variety of bots and statistical tools for the community of the site, including my first ever group project, devCredits, and a command-line client for the app, dr. The two previous projects were particularly well-designed or written by me However, I learned lots from them, and that's what matters in my opinion.



Raider Robotics is a FIRST Robotics Team that I was part of more recently. On Raider Robotics I was the primary force behind creating the software that powered our award-winning robots, including Q*bert, MiniBot, HATCHField, and Darth Raider. I also developed event management software as well as a tool for controlling parts for the team shop as well as hardware diagnostic tools and the core robotics library of the team (including its documentation).



I keep my list of pinned repositories fairly up to date with the top of my more recent projects.

Rust At the moment, Rust my primary programming language. My goal is to become a Rust expert. I've been working to produce many useful crates that will help complete the list of available libraries for other developers to benefit from.



For the past few years, Java was my primary language. I started learning it in the 10th grade while working with Raider Robotics (@frc5024). My Java projects are split up between robotics, Minecraft mods, and homework from my high school classes in compsci.



-- Python was the programming language I first learned (way way back in 5th grade). It was my primary language until high school and I have many Python projects. Although many of my older Python projects were not good, my Python abilities have grown to the point that I can confidently say that I am an expert in the language. Although my work is open source I still use Python professionally.



C and C++ were the languages I learned while working for Raider Robotics. The majority of my experience with these languages is in the Robotics space, but I do have some small side projects using these languages as well. I also use C++ professionally.



I work in many different languages, but none of them have enough projects to warrant their own page here. You can browse my repository pages to locate them.
