Microsoft Announces Minecraft Legends Game for Xbox, PC and Cloud, Coming In 2022.

Microsoft is expanding its world of Minecraft into a brand new action-adventure game, Minecraft Legends. The game, scheduled to launch in 2023, challenges players to explore the Minecraft world as it is taken over by a nefarious force.



Mojang studios, part of Microsoft which is the company behind Minecraft, described this new game as a familiar but in many ways a new experience that focuses more on strategy and combat. The original Minecraft game was released in the year 2011. It lets players build and explore while fighting off zombie-like creatures.

Microsoft stated that it has partnered with Blackbird Interactive, which also developed the upcoming space strategy game Homeworld 3.

According to Metacritic, Minecraft Dungeons was an action-adventure game that was inspired by Minecraft. It received mixed reviews two years ago. Another CNET corporate cousin, GameSpot, gave the game an "good" review, noting that the most disappointing thing was that Minecraft Dungeons focused on fighting monsters, rather than providing a fresh take on the game's original formula of creating a world. GameSpot's Steve Watts stated that the game doesn't change our expectations of what games should be. Instead, it's relying upon its own popularity.



Microsoft revealed Minecraft Legends during its annual summer videogame showcase, which will be held online this year. The game will be available next year on Xbox, PC and cloud gaming.
