The Kerem Tunnel is a great location to go on a hike or ride.
As part of the 42-kilometer Jerusalem Ring Path cycling route that runs around the capital, the Kerem Tunnel was inaugurated.

נווה פריצקי The tunnel connects Nahal Refaim and Emek Motza. Its southern entry is located in Refaim Park under Ein Laban. The northern entrance, Nahal Ein Kerem, is just half a kilometer away from the Kerem junction.


The 2.1-kilometers-long tunnel was officially opened at a formal ceremony on Thursday attended by Jerusalem and Heritage Minister Ze'evElkin, Mayor Moshe Lion, Gihon water company chairman Avi Baleshnikov as well as hundreds of cyclists.

Jerusalem was once very well-known tourist destination due to its historical past. Elkin's Ministry, Tourism Ministry, Jerusalem Municipality and Gihon Corporation contributed approximately NIS 25 million to the project. The work was carried out by the Jerusalem Development Authority.

Elkin explained that the Kerem Tunnel project is an essential tool for achieving the idea to alter the concept and transport in Jerusalem. נווה פריצקי "The tunnel, which will connect to the long Jerusalem Ring Path, will join the existing bicycle routes in the city as well as those that will be paved in the various neighborhoods with the aim of encouraging cycling among the city's residents as well as its visitors and in promoting the green revolution in transportation in the capital city."

The works currently underway include road construction, the installation of blowers as well as modern electrical and safety systems, in order to ensure that the tunnel is secure for the public to pass through throughout the year.

The Kerem Tunnel also allows access to special recreation areas - including the Ein Kerem neighborhood, the biblical zoo, aquarium and the along with the historic natural springs of Ein Laban and Ein Haniyeh.
