London is the most popular city for video games. The capital has produced approximately 29% of all games in Great Britain (about 5,763). Manchester was second with 533 games.
20 million of the UK’s 6 to 64-year old population (that's 42% of the population) are gamers who play video games. According to the Interactive Software Federation of Europe, (ISFE), UK gamers play 8.9 hours per week playing, compared to 6.8.1 and 6.2 hours, respectively.

Grand Theft Auto Series: The series was developed in Scotland by Rockstar North. The series was critically acclaimed, has sold over 250 million units. In fact, it's the fourth most popular video franchise of all time, British newspaper The Telegraph classified the video game series among the top exports from Britain.
Batman Arkham Series Based on the DC comic's Batman Arkham Series, the Arkham Series of video games was developed in London by Rocksteady Studios, with the first released in 2009. The series' success earned it a place in the Guinness book for world records, specifically for the "Most Critically Acclaimed Superhero Game Ever", for both Arkham Asylum and Arkham City.
Sea of Thieves: Released worldwide on March 20, 2018 Sea of thieves was developed in the town of Twycross, by developers at Rare. The game lets players take on the pirate role, navigating the seas, and complete missions. Sea of Thieves was Rare's fastest-selling game since they started tracking sales. It also ranked 8th among the top-selling games of 2018.
Forza Horizon Series: Developed in Leamington Spa by Playground Games The Forza Horizon series has enjoyed global success since the first game's launch in 2012. Every game in the Horizon series has received a Metacritic score of 85/100 or greater. The series has retail sales of more than US$ 1bn in December 2016. This makes Forza one of the most successful video game franchises.
Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice: Earn five awards at this year's BAFTA Games Awards, Ninja Theory's Hellblade was created in Cambridge. This dark fantasy action-adventure game was a commercial hit. In fact it was the most popular European PlayStation Store game for the month of its release.
Sniper Elite: The tactical shooting game series Sniper Elite was actually developed in Oxford by Rebellion. The first game in the series released in 2005, and the series in all has sold over 10 million copies as of. Rebellion Developments, a gaming company, even published a novel that was based on the game, titled Sniper Elite The Spear of Destiny.
Burnout Series The wildly popular multi-platform Burnout series was created by Criterion Games in Guildford, UK. The Need for Speed series is another game that is popular with the British gaming company. Crackdown 2: Despite the fact that Crackdown 2 was released by Microsoft Game Studios it was actually created in Dundee, by Ruffian games. The Crackdown series is believed to have had a significant influence on the open-world genre Den of Geek's James Hunt of described the first Crackdown game as "the first in a series of original, postmodern superheroes on gaming consoles and a lot of fun too."
LEGO Series: LEGO isn't satisfied with their success with children of all ages making blocks. LEGO has conquered the world of video games with series such as Lego: Harry Potter Years 1 - 4 and Lego: The Lord of the Rings. The series was created by Traveller's Tales (or TT Games) in Bolton.
Football Manager: This set of football-related games, also known as Worldwide Soccer Manager in North America was created in London by the company Sports Interactive. The games were well-received, and is very popular with players. There is an active online community. Since joining forces with Japanese giants at the Sega acquisition, the series has sold 15 million copies across different platforms.
