Lego is taking on Minecraft by introducing a video game

Lego, an Danish toy company has released a rival video game to Minecraft.
Lego Worlds is now available at PS11.99 through the Steam gaming platform. The final release, which will include classic and contemporary playsets as well as famous mini-figures, will be released in the year 2016.
Features are added in response to feedback from players of the game.
Lego already sells Minecraft playsets that let gamers build their own virtual worlds. Lego Worlds invites fans to do the opposite.
Tom Stone, TT Games director of management, said that Lego Worlds "embodies the physical, Lego brick building fun that fans have enjoyed for the years, and is now available on a new digital platform that offers a completely new type of experience using the beloved bricks."

He said, "From the brick-by–brick editor to a wide selection of items, characters and creatures to fill your worlds, there are endless creative possibilities."

Daniel Goldberg, who has written a book on the development of Minecraft and Minecraft, said that he "was surprised that it has taken so long".
"Minecraft is exactly what Lego should have been doing 10 years ago," he said.
"I'm sure it will be a massive success for them."
Markus Persson, the Swedish video games creator who invented Minecraft has made no secret of his enthusiasm for Lego, and it appears to be reciprocal.
David Gram, Lego's Marketing Director, stated last year that "Minecraft was digital Lego." It's a fantastic idea however, we would have liked to had invent it.
Mr Goldberg thinks Mr Persson, who is also known as Notch is likely to be "flattered" by the outcome of the game.
"Lego was his favourite toy as a child , and was the main inspiration behind Minecraft, so it is good to see things going full circle," he said.
"I believe there will be any animosity. In general, game developers are happy when someone copies an existing title.
Lego isn't just targeted at children, but also adult collectors.
Minecraft was purchased by Microsoft in the year before it has also managed to appeal to both children and adults.
"The gamers who play Minecraft has proven to be quite big, so I'm sure there will be plenty of room for both games," said Mr Goldberg.
