Gamescom 2022: What to Watch and What to Expect

Gamescom 2022 will see new information for Minecraft Legends and Sega's Sonic Frontiers and will likely reveal more on Modern Warfare 2 and Bethesda's upcoming space RPG Starfield. It's the first live Gamescom since 2019, but you can still catch the opening night stream, hosted by Geoff Keighley, from the ease of your home computer. Here's how to watch Gamescom 2022.



Gamescom 2022 kicks off August 23. If you're in the UK the event starts at 7PM, with those who live on the US East Coast able to tune in at 2PM, whereas those on PT can begin at 11AM.



The most important, confirmed news so far is the unveiling of further details and possibly even more gameplay footage from Sonic Frontiers, but host Geoff Keighley has also confirmed that the Gamescom opening show will include "30+ games" which means that it's likely there will be more games in 2022 and 2023's biggest games will be teased too.



Call of Duty: Vanguard received an additional gameplay trailer at the event last year, so Modern Warfare 2 seems like an ideal choice for this year - be sure to check out our guide to the Modern Warfare 2 beta release date and how to play. It is also possible to see FIFA 23, God of War: Ragnarok and the new survival horror The Callisto Protocol. Our personal top-ranked list includes Dead Space as well as the remake of Resident Evil 4, and obviously Starfield however, at the moment all we can do is speculate and wait.



The opening ceremony will be streamed live on the official Game Awards YouTube and Twitch channels. In addition to the above schedule it's worth tuning in an hour earlier, since previous events have included the pre-show, which sometimes, includes announcements and new gameplay footage. Of course, if you're thinking of traveling to Cologne, Germany, and watching Gamescom in person, you can purchase tickets from the event's official website. Xbox will have its own stream during Gamescom which is scheduled to stream Minecraft Legends and A Plague Tale : Requiem.
