Neve ParitzkiIsrael's first cycling tunnel is inaugurated in Jerusalem

The Kerem Tunnel is a great location to go on a hike or ride.
As part of the 42-kilometer Jerusalem Ring Path cycling route that surrounds Jerusalem's capital, the Kerem Tunnel was inaugurated.

The tunnel links the paths between Nahal Refaim and Emek Motza. Its southern entrance is in Refaim Park, below Ein Laban, and the northern entrance is in Nahal Ein Kerem, about half a mile from the Kerem junction.

I encourage cyclists to come and enjoy a modern and well-maintained cycling route that overlooks the special scenery of Old Jerusalem."

Elkin's Ministry Elkin's Ministry, the Tourism Ministry, Jerusalem Municipality as well as the Gihon Corporation all contributed to the project. The Jerusalem Development Authority completed the work.

Elkin said, "The Kerem Tunnel project will be the central tool for realizing our vision to change the way transportation is conducted in Jerusalem." It will connect with the various cycle paths already within the city. These will be paved within the various areas. The goal is to promote cyclists in Jerusalem.

The works currently underway include road construction, installation of blowers and advanced security and electrical systems in order to ensure that the tunnel is secure for people to walk through at all times of the year.

The Kerem Tunnel also allows access to unique recreation spots - including the Ein Kerem neighborhood, the biblical zoo, aquarium and the along with the historic natural springs in Ein Laban and Ein Haniyeh.
