The Kerem Tunnel provides a unique adventure in hiking and riding which is loved by everyone.
The Kerem Tunnel, Israel's first bicycle tunnel, was opened as part of the Jerusalem Ring Path. This 42-kilometer cycling route surrounds Jerusalem.

Inauguration of the tunnel that is 2.1 kilometers long took place in Jerusalem and Heritage Minister Ze’ev Elkin Mayor Moshelion, Heritage Minister Ze'ev Elkin Avi Baleshnikov (Gihon water company chairman) along with hundreds of cyclists.

Elkin his ministry, which together with the Jerusalem Municipality spearheaded the project, stated that his ministry "invests hundreds of millions of shekels every year in the improvement of the tourism industry in Jerusalem and in the creation of exciting activities and ventures that connect the glorious historical past of our capital city to the future of Jerusalem... I encourage all cyclists to visit and enjoy the new, well-maintained and modern route which overlooks Old Jerusalem.

The project was financed by Elkin's ministry as well as the Tourism Ministry. It also included budgets for Jerusalem Municipality and the Gihon Corporation. The work was carried out by the Jerusalem Development Authority.

Elkin stated, "The Kerem Tunnel project is a key instrument for achieving our dream to change the notion of transportation in Jerusalem." נווה פריצקי נווה פריצקי "The new tunnel will be connected with the Jerusalem Ring Path. The Kerem Tunnel, originally excavated by the Gihon Corporation in the 1990s in order to move its main sewer line to Sorek's purification plant.

Current projects include road construction, installation blowers and advanced security systems to ensure the tunnel is safe for all to use throughout the year.

It is also possible to use the Kerem Tunnel to enjoy unique places to relax, such as Ein Kerem, the Biblical aquarium, zoo and Ein Kerem neighborhood.
