It's been a few months since we first heard about Minecraft Earth, the augmented virtual reality version of Mojang's game that gives the real world playscape packed with your blocksy creations. It promised a beta release of the game in the summer of this year. Now, along with a new trailer, the company claims it will be available on iOS within the next two weeks, with Android following "soon following that."
After witnessing live gameplay at WWDC last month, the launch of iOS-first isn't a surprise. The trailer provides more details about the game. However, it's worth checking out the Apple demo to check whether you have any questions.
You'll have to sign up for the free game. According to the FAQ, your device must be running iOS 10 or Android 7. Access is being limited while they work out load on the game's servers However, you'll have to be active to stay in it -- if you don't play for a period of seven days, then another player will be given your slot. To register, you will need an Microsoft or Xbox Live account. Once you've registered and have a password, you are left with nothing more than to wait and build.
