Minecraft Steve has a Beard Again

He also cleaned his shoes, however he refuses to put his shirt in properly.

For the first time in more than 10 years, the cult Minecraft (opens in a new tab) default skin/character Steve has a beard once more thanks to the most recent update to Minecraft's upcoming version. The skins for both the default Steve and Alex characters in the beta launcher have a couple small tweaks to texture that make a big difference.

Steve is now sporting the iconic beard. The sleeves are rolled up or cuffed, and a bit more color definition on crucial areas such as the arms, shoes, and chest. Maybe they've polished the shoes. It's hard to say with all that mining dust.

Alex has the same cuffs for sleeve, along with more contrasting colors on most of their clothing. Alex's hair is highlighted by the layers and the depth.

The multi-year global pandemic has been tough on everyone. A lot of people thought that this was a key time to get a beard because they were not leaving the house or anything-including, it appears, Minecraft Steve. Is this a canon? It's not. It was a prank.

Steve's beard first disappeared in 2009, just 13 years ago, well before Alex even appeared on the scene. Despite this the beard was visible in official artwork. The show even came to life when they inserted Steve into Super Smash Brothers.

Welcome back, beardy Steve. The fans seem thrilled. (opens in a new tab)

In other Minecraft news we've put together some of the top texture packs (opens in new tab) for the well-known survival game. There's also an era of ruin-restoration happening as players make improvements to both out of game historical castles (opens in a new tab) and the newly-added in-game ancient ruin. (opens in an entirely new tab)
