Apple TV Gets Better for Cord-cutters and Cable tV Subscribers

Today at its huge WWDC keynote, Apple announced a few updates to the Apple TV platform. New apps coming include Sling TV (finally), Fox Sports, the French streaming service Molotov and the Minecraft: Story Mode game. Apple is also upgrading the remote app on your iPhone. It functions similar to the hardware remote. It features navigation using touch and Siri voice search. You can also utilize the keyboard to input information and control the accelerometer. The hardware itself is more similar to the remote. A new feature known as "Live Tune In" will allow users to switch between live streaming channels such as ESPN, Disney, and many more. There's also a dark-themed theme that's available now, while Automatic App downloads mean that when you install a universal application on your iPhone or iPad and then install it on your Apple TV, it will be available on your Apple TV too.

Apple has also addressed the issue of logging into all of these networks TV Everywhere apps with Single sign-on. Log in once using your information and you will be authenticated in all apps that support it. This is true for both Apple TV and mobile iOS devices.

Once an account is signed in to one network app Any Apple TV app from participating pay-TV providers will sign him into all supported apps that require authentication.

Customers can visit a page listing the authentic apps available from the pay-TV provider. Customers can search download, download, and watch their favorite video channels.

This technology can be utilized by any network-TV application to enable single sign-on and to make it easier for their viewers.

Single sign-on will work on both iOS and Apple TV.

Apple is bringing HomeKit (ReplayKit) and PhotoKit (PhotoKit) to the tvOS platform. Developers now have the capability to connect home automation features to TV apps, pull images from the photostream, and a host of other options. With ReplayKit (already available on iOS 9), they can record and live broadcast through apps, which means we could see Twitch-like features become common on Apple TV, or maybe even DVR-like streaming caching. Today's developer preview contains all the new features, and should be available to everyone by fall.
